34 gal Solana skimmer

Looking for suggestions from members....

Recently my stock skimmer pump on my 34 gal. Solana died. I've been running the last few days without a skimmer. The tank runs quiet without it which is very nice. The question is....Is it wise to run without a skimmer for any length of time or should I be looking for a replacement? I do a minimum of a 4 gal. weekly water change. I am not running with a refugium. I'm keeping a mixed reef (SPS are various monti's). I've had no problems running with the stock skimmer. Water parameters and livestock all good. I've always believed in the old saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". However, maybe there are other ways to run the tank that will improve water quality, etc. For instance, new skimmer with refugium, no skimmer with with refugium. If a replacement skimmer is suggested, what can be used for an approriate drop-in? Your suggestions are appreciated

Thanks in advance,
Bill

Many people upgrade the skimmer right away on these setups.  They go to a Sapphire Aquatics skimmer or a TUNZE nano skimmer.  I just got a SOlana setup used off this site, and the stock skimmer is pretty much junk IMO.  Im going to upgrade asap!

I have heard great things about the tunze 9002 skimmer.
