Nereaga's 34g Solana
« on: April 12, 2010, 06:11:49 PM »
I got this setup used from Kristi!  Thanks guys!  8)

Tank specs so far:

20x20x20 rimless tank
stock skimmer
Tsumani ATO
400gph stock return pump
20lbs reef substrate
15 lbs fine reef sand

The Beginning of my first cube!  :D

ATO setup:

I have the live rock that came with the setup in a 10g tank.  Gonna scrub it down and hopefully get it in the tank tonight.  The rock has some die off and NH3 is at 0.25, I will let the tank run through a cycle.  Not loading it up the rock, gonna be a minimalist looking seup.

No sps in the tank plans, moving all my LPS over from my main tank as they dont like all the flow in my 75g setup.

More pics to come fo sho!  8)  I am SUPER pumped for this cube!

I think I'm gonna pull the trigger tonight Chris! Every one on rc is saying I should get the110w version but that is $400 or so, just can't pull that off right now.  The 60w version is $150 plus $10 for the hanging kit

For softies and LPS the 60W should be fine IMO, if you where doing SPS then ya the 110W is the way to go.
What I don't understand is you can buy two 60W fixtures for $320, for a total power of 120W, and the 110W is over $400, explain that one to me?

Well the 110w version has temp control and timers built in and cooling fans. Nice perks IMO but still don't have that cash right now or obv I would go for it!

Well, shipping from Hong Kong is EXPENSIVE!  $65 to ship the fixture, puts the total at $213.... Starting to re think now...

Well I am a proud owner of a slick LED fixture!  Here is what I bought tonight!  Coming from Hong Kong and will take 6-7 days to get here.  It was $200 shipped with a 10% discount that runs through april from fish-street.com.

Thing is slick as hell looking.  Should work out nicely for the Solana.  It is a total of 60w.  I only plan on housing LPS and some Zoas in this tank, no SPS.

Can't wait! :)

It runs the 3w LED's.  It has 12 white 3w and 6 blue 3w and also 2 violet 3w.  Should look pretty nice.  RC has a nice thread on them already and man the bigger ones are even nicer with temperature control and built in timers.

Yes it is!  That was the first question I wrote to them.  If you look in the picture its just a simple computer power cord hookup

ok, cool. sent them an email about the things I want to buy.  Would be pissed if that stuff came in 220v.  good prices on there.
